Native Plant Society Meeting

Wednesday, February 14, 2018 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Holiday Inn Express
1943 Blowing Rock Rd
Boone, NC 28607

The Blue Ridge Chapter of the North Carolina Native Plant Society invites you to attend the February 14th meeting in Boone. Our program this month will be "The Fungimentals of the Kingdom Fungi" and will be presented by former Blue Ridge Parkway and W. Kerr Scott park ranger Julie Mullis. Julie will touch on the ways members of the fungi kingdom interact (beneficially and not) with plants and animals, including us, with an emphasis on the keystone role fungi plays in our ecosystem. She will also bring up identification cues, uses, and cautionary notes about key species from the most noticeable families of mushrooms.

Meetings are held every second Wednesday of each month at the Holiday Inn Express on Blowing Rock Road in Boone and start at 7 PM, but the room will be open around 6:30 if you would like to come early and chat with other native plant enthusiasts.

Please note our inclement weather policy: In the case that the Watauga County school system cancels school for the day of our meeting we will not have our regularly scheduled meeting. If there is just a 2 hour delay we will have our meeting.
