Anne Waldman is a poet, performer, professor, and cultural activist. She is the author of more than 40 collections of poetry and poetics and an active member of the Outrider experimental poetry movement, creating new hybrid forms for the long poem, as with Marriage: A Sentence, Structure of the World Compared to a Bubble, Manatee/Humanity, and Gossamurmur, all published by Penguin Poets. Her publications include Marriage: A Sentence (2000), the magnum opus The Iovis Trilogy: Colors in the Mechanism of Concealment (2011), and Voice’s Daughter of a Heart Yet to Be Born (Coffee House Press, 2016). She is a Distinguished Professor of Poetics at Naropa University, in Boulder, Colorado, and artistic director of its Summer Writing Program. She received the American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation for lifetime achievement in 2015.
