High Country Audubon Society meeting and presentation "Plants for Birds" by Kim Brand

Tuesday, April 17, 2018 - 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Holiday Inn Express

Boone, NC 28607

According to Kim Brand, field organizer for Audubon North Carolina, your yard -- and the kinds of plants in it -- matters more than you may know. And you can learn more when she presents the program at the HCAS meeting on Tuesday, April 17. Her presentation will include information on the very important role that native plants play in providing the food birds need to survive and thrive in a way that nonnative plants cannot do. Your yard can make a real difference for birds year-round: plant shrubs that provide the high-fat berries birds need to fuel up for long migration flights; plant trees that host the caterpillars that become baby-bird food; and plant flowers that provide nectar for hummingbirds. Audubon NC has many resources to help you find plants to help your favorite birds, and, if you make a small donation to Audubon, you will receive a beautiful Plants for Birds sign which will encourage your neighbors to help the birds, too.
