The Watauga County Public Library is proud to participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (V.I.T.A.) program. V.I.T.A. is an I.R.S. grant supported initiative which offers free income tax help to people making $54,000 a year or less. All volunteer tax preparers are certified and have received training to prepare basic tax returns.
Services are by appointment only!
SERVICE HOURS:
Fridays (from 3-6pm)
Saturdays from 9am-12pm
LAST DAY OF SERVICE: April 14
Note: No service March 30 & 31.
Qualification Requirements:
Income must be $54,000 or below.
Residents are encouraged to file a tax return to claim the tax benefits they earned with the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit. Millions of workers could overlook and miss out on up to $6,318 extra in their federal income tax refunds through the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC and as much as $1,000 per qualifying child for the Child Tax Credit or CTC. ASU students and their parents may be eligible for education credits.
If you are a member of the military, clergy, or a small business owner with expenses exceeding $10,000 you do not qualify for V.I.T.A. Please call (828) 264-8784 ext. 2 for more information and to schedule an appointment.
